September COVID 19 Update
Herefordshire Training Services understand that these are some of the most challenging times for employers and employees. We have had a number of courses cancelled and have rescheduled many more in order to reduce the risk of infection in line with government guidance and instruction, but we are continuing to operate where we can to support employers.
In these difficult times it is important to remember that training helps keep individuals safe at work or safe when they can come back to work. Employers can train staff when they are furloughed and therefore avoid future downtime when they are trying to get their businesses back to full production.
What do the HSE recommend with regard to lift trucks?
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has released a statement regarding the on going requirement for lift truck training – in summary
• New Lift Truck Operators who are operating in essential businesses, should be trained. This should be inline with the Public Health England’s Guidance
• Refresher Training for those operating in essential businesses can be delayed for up to 3 months. Providing that all reasonable steps have been undertaken to complete the training, but have been unable to do so due to Coronavirus related issues. Employers will need to demonstrate that they are meeting their legal duties to monitor and supervise Lift Truck Operators.
